The 2nd Federal IT Forum of the Russian Oil and Gas Industry was held
in St. Petersburg on 21-22 September 2016, and it proved to be a success. The forum has become the key meeting point for the CIOs of oil and gas companies, Russian and international developers, government authorities

The IT Forum was traditionally opened by a session with the CIOs of the largest Russian oil and gas companies; they participated in an open discussion and spoke about the key development trends in the industry. Almost all IT directors agreed that progressive companies should undergo a digital transformation, which will lead to a new technological paradigm – the so-called "new industrial revolution". This new paradigm is often referred to as Industry 4.0, and this topic became the focus of all sessions during the IT Forum 2016. The other important topic was the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) forming the technological basis for Industry 4.0.
